In the destiny path, press space bar where the " ends and add -direct -txt. The "3dfx" is because i use Glide Wrapper. If you play without Plugy you have to do the same. REMEMBER TO PASTE THE DATA FOLDER IN YOUR DIABLO II FOLDER, IT DOESN'T EXIST THERE BY DEFAULT UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER MODS.



I spent about a month to make this mod and i'm happy with the result, the goal was to make every mercenary worth having and at the same time keeping things balanced so they are not overpowered but useful. Now almost every class has at least 3 subtypes, for example Rogue now has Fire Arrow, Cold Arrow and Combat, Iron Wolves have 4 subtypes: Lightning, Ice, Fire and Combat, Desert Mercenary like the base game have Offensive, Combat and Defensive, the only one that only have 2 subtypes are Barbarians: Offensive and Defensive and every hireling has at least one passive skill.

These hirelings will adapt to almost every build, i tried my best to do this but maybe there is some hireling that doesn't adapt to them. I chose, in my opinion the best skills i could possibly gave them so now they are more powerful. A problem that vanilla Diablo II was that hirelings actually were weaker as you progressed in difficulties, this no longer happens because now Hell hirelings are the strongest. Another problem i had was that the only useful hireling was the Desert mercenary because of auras, now every hireling has an aura so it's worth having, and the third problem i had was that the mercenary's inventory was a bit limited, now it's almost as the hero inventory, you can equip them an amulet, belt, ring (yes, only one, i haven't figured out how to give them two), boots and belt so now they will be more complete.

Skills changes list:
Zeal: Now does a bit more damage per lvl.

Vengeance: Added a cut skill overlay used on hit, also added sound (Fist of Heavens Sound). See it here

Guided Arrow: Now has the ability to Pierce an enemy (Like it did in the past),

Multiple Arrow: Now does more damage so now it's worth having.

Chilling Armor: Bolt now does more damage so it's a better skill.

Lightning Bolt: Now is a good choice at high levels,

Blaze: Does more fire damage so it's worth having now

Teeth: Now does more damage.

Holy Fire now it's on par with Holy Shock, still Holy Shock it's better.

Frost Nova and Nova now are powerful choices.

*Note*: This by far are the most powerful melee hirelings, intented to be ranged characters support. They work as tanks (As they did in original Diablo II but better.) Also, i restored an unused type of barb hireling that dual wield's axes, the code for wielding axes work but they can't dual wield them, also they can use two handed axes.

Possible changes in the future: Combat Barbarian, and making a new type of hirelings to be recruited in Act IV, something as the ultimate hireling type.

I tested everything and it should work fine, i used it in conjuntion with Enjoy SP - Mod and Plugy, so i don't know if it would work without them (probably yes), still, i recommend that you download this mods and play with them, they are worth it. Another minor changes are that now every hireling has a better appereance. For example, Rogue now has a Skull cap, Studded leather armor and shoulder pads and a long bow, Desert Mercenary has got a kind of Skull cap, Full Chain mail and has got a new spear, Iron Wolf now has a golden chest plate, Corona, and a Kite Shield and Barbarian now has a heavy chest plate and shoulders pads, great helm and a great sword. This were in the game files but were not fully implemented so i edited some txt's and worked.

Note: This mod is only usable with the -direct - txt method, it will not work with D2SE. Tested only in Version 1.13c, im not sure if it will work 1.14d or so. Also, i added an expanded character inventory and expanded cube for quality of life purposes.

Known bugs: Actually is not a bug but is a problem of the game, when you start a new character and you recruit your first hireling, this will not use certain skills until they reach the level they need to use it. For example some aura is usable when you reach level 5, so if this hireling doesn't have level 5 yet he/she will not be able to use it.







1.1 changelist: Offensive Barbarian now uses axes, added Axe Mastery and Iron Skin to Offensive ones and Sword Mastery to Deffensive ones.

Vengeance now displays an unused overlay on hit and sound (Fist of Heavens sound).

Added Diablo 1 music to certain locations to make the mod feel unique.
